How an AI agent differs from a chatbot

A plain chatbot replies with text and stops there. An agent works toward a goal: it looks data up in your database, checks a document, creates a record or updates a status — it performs the action a person used to perform.

Two things make that work in practice: the agent is grounded only in your own data (RAG), and its permissions are tightly scoped. We never build an agent that "can do anything" — it performs only the agreed actions, and everything else is handed to a human.
